Things to do in Hampshire During the Summer Holidays

You’re now a couple of weeks into the summer holidays and you may slowly be running out of things to suggest for the kids to do. Thankfully, with so much to do around us you won’t be pulling your hair out as the kids tell you for the hundredth time that they’re bored. Not only this, it also doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg to enjoy yourselves. We’ve done the research and rounded up some of the best things to do in Hampshire throughout the summer holidays.

Head to the beach

As it’s the summer holidays we expect to have a little more sunshine than usual, so what would be better than pulling the kids outside and heading to one of the many beaches around Hampshire. You can relax and catch some sun whilst the kids entertain themselves with the sandy beaches, cool waters and ice cream! Lather on the sun cream and breathe in the fresh sea breeze. Discover your options and take your pick from a choice of beaches listed on Visit Hampshire’s website here. There’s also beaches even the dog can enjoy too.

Visit the Zoo

It’s not everyday your face to face with giraffes or penguins. You may have never seen either in real life, so take advantage of Marwell Zoo! You can enjoy a range of animal talks and feeds. The kids can also make use of one of five adventure playgrounds whilst you have a well deserved break. You’re guaranteed some sleepy lions once it’s time to go home! To enquire about prices or to find out more, go to Marwell Zoo’s website here.

Museums are fun

Hampshire has an abundance of history and therefore a vast amount of museums to visit. Learning doesn’t have to end when term time does, there’s so much to learn and something for everyone! If there’s someone in the family who is a lover of old cars, take a trip to Beaulieu House. The fun doesn’t stop there, you can make use of their monorail ride and the historic Beaulieu Abbey. If it’s not cars but boats that are of interest, you’ll want to pay a visit to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, home to the Mary Rose where you can explore the ruins and reimagine that day in 1545. Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is a must-see for anyone visiting the south of England. Find out more here.

Experience the best view in Hampshire

Emirates Spinnaker Tower has breathtaking views of Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight. Watch the sea and the boats go in and out of Portsmouth harbour, there’s always something to see. If you’re brave enough, take a walk over the amazing glass sky walk and see Gunwarf Quays below your feet. Make sure you pick a glorious day!

Get some fresh air

Getting outside doesn’t have to cost money, taking a walk around Hampshire’s landscape can be just as exciting and the views are beautiful. If you’re looking for motivation and some inspiration, find some of the best walks to do here.
