Portsmouth News award WIN 2020
On Friday 21st February 2020 New Place Hotel won Leisure, Retail & Tourism Business of the Year Award at The News Business Excellence Awards 2020 in association with Trethowans, the award itself was sponsored by Hampshire Chamber of Commerce.
The Award was in a diverse category stretching from Sweet Memories Record Shop to Stoked Watersports, other nominees included Atlas Gym, DTW Cermaics & runr.
New Place was awarded the trophy because as was said in the nomination “a business is only as good as its team & we have a VERY good team!”. It has capped a very successful run of prize wins for the hotel that recently won a brace of awards at the Southampton Hoteliers Awards earlier in the month for both their community contributions & for their Head Chef – Mark Grieveson who won Chef of the year.
The award was collected by Matthew Bolland – Financial controller, Norman Cardoso – Operations Manager & Sara Lander – Sales Manager. Matthew remarked on the win “These awards are excellent for championing Portsmouth & the business within the local area. But to be honest, it was a shock to win, the hotel was in a very diverse & hotly contested category, we knew we had a chance, but to bring home the award is humbling.”
