The Manor House was built in a formal Jacobean-style red brick, by Sir Edwin Lutyens and was built in 1906. The house is set in a formal arts and crafts style garden which blooms beautifully in the spring and summer. The garden design was completed by Thomas Mawson with possible influence from Gertrude Jekyll. Arts and craft gardens don’t come with any hard and fast rules, they are an approach to design as opposed to a style, creating a harmonious relationship with the property. Smaller country houses took on this trend in the mid 19th century with gardens becoming an essential component of the household.

Our gardens showcase their full beauty in the spring and summer months, bursting into colour as the days become warmer and longer. In June, the roses are beginning to bloom and the grass is a gorgeous shade of green. In July, we are greeted with the brightness of sweet pea, marigolds and

pink hydrangeas. Finally, August is a great month in the garden, with many flowers, including dahlias, sunflowers and other hot-coloured blooms at their peak. The lawns are green and luscious throughout the spring and summer months, so you can guarantee that from April – September, you will be surrounded by beautiful greenery on your special day!

It’s no doubt that the spring and summer months are the most popular to wed in the UK. The spring months are fresh and full of excitement, awaiting the arrival of summer. Summer is bursting with life and colour with long warm days and a lower chance of rain. In general, the spring and summer months also allow you the opportunity for bright floral displays. There really is no better
